INTERNATIONAL SEAMEN'S CONFERENCE
o GENERAL STRIKE FAVOURED. (Rec. August 15, 5.5 p.m.) Brussels, August 13. Tho International Seamen's Conference adopted a proposal by the Belgian delegation in favoiir of a general strike Of seamen with the object: of obtaining an eight-hour day and a' fc-rty-eight-hour week, with a French amendment in favour of submitting the proposal to a commission composed equally of shipowners and seamen before launching the strike movement. The motion and amendment wore practically unanimously agreed to.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
