VIEWS .OP THE CITIZENS. By TelCKrnoli—Vrw A^nci.ition Westport, August 6. \t a public meeting held'in the Town Hall 10-nigiit to consider the Government's proposal to take over the \\ est* port Harbour Board, a resolution was carried—"That this meeting of tho citizens of Wes'-port docs not disagree wuh the action of the Government in taking over the board, provided: (1) It is made clear that tho retiring Harbour Board is not responsible for the presen unfavourable financial position; and (2) tlmt revenue from the land held in tiust by the present Harbour .Board under the. Act of 18S4, is set aside, and used only for the development of 'Westport harbour and lands connected therewith. \ further resolution was carried that i'lV Government bo asked to repeal clauses 108 and 109 of tho Finance Act of 1915 and refund to tho board tho revenues taken under those clauses, amounting to 6omo .£67,000.
