In the Magistrate's Court this morning, Harry Tallemmn and Edmund .Russell, Jones, importers, carrying on business at Auckland under the name of Tallerman and Company,. were charged that, with! intent to defraud ttho'revenue .of the Customs, by evading or enabling some other. person to evade, the paymen of full duty on 10 cases of chinaware, they made an entry which was erroneous, in .Ahat the declaration made by E. R. Jones na required by the Customs Act, 1913, stated the fair market value of the goods at £6i lis. 6d„ whereas the value was, in fact, .-£262 fls. 3d. A; separate information has also been laid against Edmund Ejasscll. Jones. Mr. Donnelly, Acting-Crown Prosecutor, asked for an adjournment! till August 24, and this was granted
