TO SECURE REGULAR COAL DELIVERIES
TO FRANCE
VOTE APPROVED BY HOUSE
OF COMMONS

The House of Commons approved'the Supply vote towards tlio five millions sberlin" advances iu respect of the German coal deliveries in order to secure regular deliveries to Prance. It was pointed out that the voto would not necessitate fresh borrowing, ns the money would be supplied from the actual receipts under the reparation clauses of the Peace Treaty. Sir Worthington Evans stated that the arrangement for advances was being made in order to provide tho miners with adequate food. Replying to tho French criticism ho showed the benefits aocruing to France, while Uritain was not receiving a single ton, but was getting equitable consideration in other directions under the agreement made at Spa. Mr. Lloyd Georgo emphasised the necessity for. the advances and said '.he British representatives had reported that the people were not receiving within 60 or 70 per cent, of the food they enjoyed before the war—Beuter.
