New York, August 1. The American coal production . had shown an upward trend sinca tho middlo of April, but lias decreased in tlio last few wcoks, through a strike in Southern Illinois. During tho last, week in July tho output decreased 15 to 17 per cent. The week's production was nine million tons, more than a million bekw tho svewj®f-Afflar«.B, lOaafe Assa.
