Messrs. Levin and Co., Ltd., report:— On Saturday last we hold a clearing dairy sale on account of Mr. J. ETans, at Aorangi. There waß a largo attendance of local buyers attracted to the sale by the high records put 'Up by this herd.'" The cows wore high-grade Jersey, and were put before the publlo in great condition. Bidding was spirited throughout, and a splendid sale resulted. We quote: -Best cows, £30 to £44; others, £20 to £29; one oldl cow, £14; average over all, £29 5b.; springing heifers, £27 to £31, average, £28 lis.; yearling heifers, £22; bull, Koel of Bulls, 52 guineas; 10-year gelding, £24; spring cart, £29; t stack hay, £71; shearing plant, £140. On Monday wo held a clearing sale at Waltohi on account of Mr. L. Bishop. There was a large attendance, and a successful sale resulted. Best cowb made from £18 to £21 10s.; others from £10 ss. to £17 10s.; average over all, £17 13s. 9d.; springing heifers, from £9 to £13 155,;. yearling heifers, £6 Is.-; sows and litter, £15 to £18 10s.; sows to fanow, £5 10s. to £10; shearing plant, £150; separator, £22 10s. 'Mr. H; J. Lancaster's sale ,on Tuesday, contrary to expectations, was very ipoorly attended, many loeal buyers absenting themselves, no doubt owing to the freely expressed opinion that prices would rulo too high. The herd of 100 very hifhgrado Jersey cows was quite the best lot wo have over offored for sale, and did very great credit to Mr. Lancaster's selection and breeding, and were greatly admired by those present. We wero disappointed with the result, and with recent saloß of Jersey grade herds held in tho distriot, many of tho cows were much in buyers' favour. A beautiful type of milker in one named Dick fell, after keen competition, to the bid of Mr. 0. Jones of Woodville at £54, which iB perhaps a record for a grado Jersey cow, at all events in this district. Tho 25 top-priced cows made from £36 to £64, with an average of £42 ss. Tho 50 toppriced cows averaged £38 9b., and the whole herd of 100 cows averagod £29 10s. The Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report on their Masterton Bale, held on Wednesday :-Wo had a Bmall entry, which met with a ready sale Thero was'a large attendance, and bidding for all lines was animated. Dalgoty and Company; Limited, report having held their monthly sale at Te Horo on Wednesday, when they offered a fair yarding of sheep, all lotß being sold under tho hammer. 2 and 4-tooth wethers, 31s. 9d. to 335. Id.: fat and, forward ewes, to 295.; m.s. hoggets, 18s. 9d. to 245. 7d.; cull hoggetß, to 12s. 6d.: store pigs, 325. 6d. to 375. Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agoncy Co., Ltd., report havinir held a successful olearing sale for Mr. N, O. Davidson, of Nlreaha. The stock was in flTst-claBS oondltion, and competition was ktsn. We quotes-Four, six, and r.ni. ewes in lamb to b.f. ramß, £2 2s. 3d.; four and live-year ewe», 395. 2d.; w.f. hogpots. 29a.; cull hoggets, 24b. 4d.: dairy cows, £20 to £21: three-year heifers In calf, 1 £12, £13, £14, to £16; two and a halfyear steers, bad colours, .£7 Is.: yearling steers, £3; light half-drauirht mare. £28; bows with litters, £22 to £24 15b. Lot of sundries sold well.
