CLYDESDALE HORSE SOCIETY
A meeting of the counoil of the Clydesdale Horse Society of the Dominion of Now Zealand, was held at tho Dominion Farmer*' Institute, Wellington, recently. The following were elected members of the society:—Messrs. J. T. James, Ngapuna: Alex. Culleu, Crookstou; Heid and Leckie, Gore; 11. It. Tisdall, Middle-/ march; and H. L. Brown, Pleasant Point, Levels. The hon. secretary reported that all replies except two from members of council, as to whether animals competing for tho British Clydesdale Society's gold medals should pass a veterinary examination, were in favour of 6uch a regulation, which was therefore adopted. Tt was decided that after the closing date of entries for Vol. 5 of< the Stud Book, no rebate be allowed in respect of animals previously entered as produce. Dr. lleakes intimated that the Department of Agriculture would bo Mvilling to allow the inspecting officer to certify to the identification of imported annuals, and it was agreed to accept the officer's certificate for such. After a discussion re the vacancy en the council onused by the retirement of Mr. L. E. Hamilton, of Manutahi, it .was decided that a sub-committee make tho final decision after consent had been obtained. Mr. Hugh Middloton, Waverley, has since consented to accept tho position. „,, _ ~.
