» CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP. + Tho most interesting run of the season will take place at Mirnmar on fatuicay next, when the local harriers will compete for the provincial championship ever a five-milo cross-country course, with a teams' raco for the TVhyte-Mackay Shield. The competitors will be tho Brooklyn Harriers (two teams), the Olympic Harriers. and possibly a team from the Boys' Institute. _ Tho country over which the raco' is to take placo permits nearly tho whole of the Inst half-mllo's run being •witnessed from the finishing point, which will be at the Miramnr tram terminus. Tho present provincial cross-country chraapion is A. B. Wilson, while the Brooklyn Harriers are holders of the White-Mackay Shiold. Given a calm day, it is expected that some good times will be put up.
