EASTERN OILFIELDS
FRANCO-BRITISH AGREEMENT. . London, July 24. A Franco-British agreement, in respect to tho development of oilfields, provides that in Rumania the two Governments will support their respective nationals, with a view to the acquisition of tho former German oil interests and other concessions all shares in the former being half French and half British. In Russia the two' Governments will support their respective nationab in acquiring concessions. In Mesopotamia Prance is to receive 25 per cent, of the Government output at the market rates, or 25 per cent, of tho shares in private companies. The agreement also provides for tho construction of piije-lines and railways for the transportation of oil through the French sphere _to the Mediterranean. In North Africa and other French colonies France is to give facilities to Franco-British groups, Britain giving corresponding advantages in the British Crown colonies.—Reuter.
