ENGLISH AERIAL DERBY
* SAWEEB THE FAVOURITE. (Rec. July 25, 5.5 p.m.) London, July 23. Bookmakers will be permitted to operate at Hcndon for to-morrow's Air Derby, a two-hundred-milo circuit, around London. Hawker is the favourite and Hinkler next. Raymond is third favourite, but will probably bo a non6tarter.owing to a slight accident. There will be sixteen competitors.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. WON BY F. COURTNEY. (Rec. July 2G, 0.15 a.m.) London, July 24. Great crowds witnessed the start and finish of the Aerial Derby. Points of vantage along the course were also fTirongeci, particularly Epsom Downs. The weather was unsettled and the wind strong. Visibility was good. There were fifteen starters, the limit men including Hammersley and Hinckler, on a baby Avros. They had iuch a long start that they completed the first- circuit before the highest powered machines started. F. Courtney, on a three-hundred horse-power Martyns de Semiquaver, won the Derby, averaging 153J miles an hour. The handicap resulted in a win for Hammersley and Hinckler.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Afisn.
