CHARGES LETTERS, TELEGRAMS, Y: \ TELEPHONES ,: i 1 ADVAN6ES ALL ROUND Tho Postmaster-General announces that tbo following alterations of postago and telegraph charges will comß into force on August 1: Letters and Letter-cards. Inland: Increased from lid. for 4or, to 2d. for 2oz. Australia, United Kingdom, United States, and certain other conntriesi • From ljd. to 2d. Postcards. Inland: Increased from Id. to lid. Lata Fee. Increased from. Id. to 2d. Packets (Comprising commercial papers, books, and printed papers, pattern _ and sample packets and unregistered magazines). Inland: From Id. for first 20z., and Jd. for each additional 2oz. to ljd. for each 4oz. up to lib. Registered Magazines. Inland, Australia, Fiji, and certain islands in Pacific: New rates—Sd. for each copy if not exceeding Boz., and 2d. for each additional Soz. or fraction thereof. Newspapers. Inland: Increased from }d. to Id, Registration Fee. Increased from 2d, to 3d. Inland Parcels. From 4Jd. to Gd. for first pound. Fee for Insurance of Parcels. Inland: From 2d. to 3d. for up to JE2. Private Letter-boxes—Rental. I From £1 to £1 10s. per annum. Private Mail Bags—Rental. From £2 to £2 10s. per annum. Money-Orders. New rates by post payable in New; Zealand: Id. for each £i, with minimum of 6d. Payable beyond New Zealand, except in Australia, United States of America or Canada: Gd. for each JCI. Payable in United States of America and Canada: sd. for each 2s. New rates by telegraph: Payable in, New Zealand, same as by post, plus a telegraph fee of Is. Gd. if order sent by ordinary telegram, or 3s, if sent by urgent telegram. Payable in. United Kingdom: Samo as by post, plus cabling fee. Domestic Orders. Each order 9d., including delivery fea. Postal Notes. New commission rates: Up to 2s. Gd., Id.; 39. to 159., 2d.; 205., 3d. I Telegrams—lnland. i New rates: Week days (other than public holidays): Is. for first 12 words, and 1 Id. for each additional word, for ordinary telegrams; double tlieso rates for urgent telegrams. Sundays and public holidays: Doubl» the rates for week days. Registration of Code Addresses. Fee increased from 10s. to £1 p»r annum. The amendment of the charges for telephone bureau communications and for telepbone exchange connections will be announced later.
