ORGAN RECITAL

Saturday night's organ recital attracted a larger audience than usual, and those present were unstinted in their appreciation of the diversified programme presented by tho city organist (Mr. B. F. Page). As his opening number Mr. Pago gave "Suite Ancienne (Holloway). The Suite consisted of four movements. A prelude chorale was given as an introduction with good effect. The second move ment, "Conrante" (an old French dance), is written in,the form of a canon, and It was the moat charming of the set Followed a "Duet," in which the two voice parts were played ou ,Bwell and great, ivlth choir accompaniment, thus adding to the tone resources with very pleasifig effect. The last movement, "Finale alia Fuea," was a close to a suite that was greatly enjoyed by admirers of tho charm of this earlier Btyle of music. 'Mr. Page's next number wao "Summer Sketohes" (Lemare). They comprised a charming series of five—"Dawn," "The I3er/," "Cuckoo," "Twilighfi," and "Evening"—tho wholo forming a dainty ariel number which proved most acceptable. ■ In somewhat different vein, but none the lesß pleasing, were two selections from Eobikoft, aj follow:—(a) Miniature Op. JO (No, 2) and (b) Danse deß Odolesquea, Op. 2 (No. 3). The second half of the programmo was devoted by Ml. Pago to a rendition of "Paythe"—Poeme Sym> phoniaue flour Orchcstre et Ohoeurs" (Cesar Franclt, 1822-90). The -piece contains many sublime passages, which Mr. Page handled in a masterly fashion.
