PRICES OF ENGLISH MEAT
OUTCRY AGAINST ATTEMPTS AT' PROFITEERING. London, July 8. Tlio prices of home-killed moat nt Smithfield are practically unquotable. Averages aro about 12s. n stonG for beef and Us. for mutton. There is very little business, partly through the instability of values, and partly -because thero is little demand early in tlio work. There is a considerable outcry against alleged attempts at profiteering. Retailors generally are angry, nnd say their customers cannot pay the prices. The newspapers say the Temcdy is in tho pubho s otto bauds. They can demand imported moat at tho control prices. Tho stocks at present are ample.—Aus.-N.Z. Cablo Assn.
