EXPENDITURE FOR MAINTENANCE
SANCTIONED
SUBSIDIES FOR SHIPBUILDING

(Rec. July 9, 1.25 a.m.) Berlin, July 6. The Reichsta.g has sanctioned an expenditure of 850,000,000 marks for the maintenance of an Army of 100,000 strong. Iho total expenditure on the Army's upkeep will be 2.500,000 marks. It was further announced that 195,000,000 marks were earmarked for the construction of merchant shipping and shipping yards, which latter will receive building subsidies according to tho progress of construction.
Iho Reichstag rejected by 313 votes to 61 a morion of no-confidence moved by the Independent Socialists, and adopted bv 253 vote 6 to 62 a motion approving of the Chancellor's declaration of poficy. lifty-four members did not vote on the latter motion.—Reuter.
