TENANTS AND LANDLORDS

Sir,—ln regard to the eviction of tenants I we in this morning's paper that returned soldiers are protected from eviction for another 12 months. Now, Sir, I am sure this measure will not be objected,to by nnj' respectable householder, but I think the members of Parliament do not know there is a certain class of war profiteer—not* returned soldiers—who are. sheltering behind this law which, unfortunately,' protects thorn too. I would bo only fair now to make the law protecting tenants applicable to returned soldiers only. At present one may bo unfairly treated by any tenant and have ones property damaged by any war profiteer and be unable to eject him so long ae lie pays his rent. I see no justice in this, and it is quite time the long suffering house-owner was-\ it liberty to evict a tenant so long as ho is not a returned soldier—l am, etc., HOUSEHOLDER. Wanganu', July 2, 1920.
