REVOCATION OP NATURALISATION

Sir—The introduction of a Bill to enable the Government to revoke, tho rights conferred by naturalisation is but carrying to its logical conclusion '.',. the idea that Governments confer such rights. It in surely necessary that thero should be power to take away the rights acquired by naturalisation if the naturalised subject violates his oath of allegiance. On the other hand, every consideration of justice and honour demands that rights conferred by naturalisation should not be withdrawn arbitrarily. In tho interests of justico and honour,-therefore/.it will be necessary to include in the Bill before the Houso a clause conceding to every naturalised subject the right of trial before, ft Judge. This has already been done under British legislation,, and seems the obvious way of protecting tho interests of tho Stato while keeping faith with naturalised subjects:—l am. etc., HUGH MACKENZIE.
