WHEAT SUPPLIES

9 _ INDICATIONS OF GOOD EUROPEAN HARVEST WORLD SURPLUS EXPECTED IN COMING SEASON By Telegraph-Press .Assooiation-OopyrteW Rome, July i. Agricultural statistics issued by the International Institute of Agriculture show that on April 1 there were still 105 _ million quintals of wheat and rye available in tho exporting countries—Go millions in North America, 32 millions in South America, and 13 millions in Australia. The requirements of the importing countries between April and tho ru. 6pective harvests were 81 million quintals. Consequently a surplus would be available in the coming season. The Institute forecasts that the generally favourable summer indicates a good European harvest. Should the forecast be borne out, the requirements of countries importing on a large scale wilt be less than last year. ■ British India had a larger crop than last year, so it is probable that Indian exports will commence next 6euson. The United States expects a smaller crop than in 1919, but it should be above the prewar average. The Canadian crop prospects are favourable,' and the yield will probably bo much larger than in 1919. It is held that the outlook for the coming year does not justify serious anxiety, either for the importing or exporting countries.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
