MEETING OF NEW ZEALAND UNION

THE AUSTRALIAN TOUR

The Management ; Committeo of the New Zealand Eugby Union met. last evening, .Mr. G. W. Slado presiding. • Tho chairman submitted n report on the proceedings of a conference, of the ltangitikei, llaetihi, Taufliarunui, Taihape. and Wanganui sub-unions, which was'held at Taihape this week. Tho reorganisation of the various sub-unions was considered, and it was decided .that a metropolitan union be formed at Wanganui, on which the sub-unions would have ample representation. Tho question of forming a now union embracing the Kaetihi, Taunuuunui, and' To Kuitt sub-unions was discussed at his (Mr. Slade's) suggestion, and oventually hold over till the annual conference. 'Mr. Slade also reported that he had irranged for the South' Island touring team to play a match at Taihape against tiie Wanganui Union team 011 August 14.' The chairman, secretary, and treasurer ivero deputed to draw up an agreement ,vith the New South Wales Union for inaneingi the Australian tour on the 'oii'.owing basis:—New South Wales Union to pay all expenses of the New Zealand team and to tak& all re:eipta, the advances to the New Zea-1 and Union to bo paid out of the first ;ates until fully paid up. It was decided to make arrangements or the Now Zealand team wliicli is to our Australia to'play a match at -Wellington 011 the Wednesday (August 11) allowing their xeturn to the Dominion, 'ending their departure for Australia 10 members of the team will—it was deided—be permitted to take part in provincial matches. ....

Southern members of the team are to assemble in Wellington on July 8, mid, along with tho Wellington members, will leave for Auckland the same day by the midday express, picking up the mid-island representatives en route. Tho Taranaki men will join the train at Miirton. It was 1 reported that the following referees liad been appointed for the New Zealand mutches l«fore the departure of th New Zealand representatives for Australia:—July 10, v. Auckland at Auckland, Mr. A. E. Wetherilt; July 14; v. AVangiuiui-Manawatu-llyowhenua, at Palmei'ston North, Mr. Jack O'Connor (Levin). ' . _ . . Intimation- was received from the southern selectors that the following players had been picked to represent the South Island Country team:—Backs; Osborne (Coast), O'Callashan (Coast), Markham (Coast), Phillip (Mariborough); ltyan (Duller), Griffiths (Buli'.er), Corby (Bullei'), Frien (Bulle.r), Griffiths (Buller); forwards: Wylie (Coast), Feavey (Nelson), Fisher (Marlboroush), ; ■ Hall (Coast), Watson (Ne.'son), O'Brien (Marlborough), Stewart (Buller), Snow (Nelson), King (Coast), Mason (Nelson). Mr. H. T. Bailey was appointed manager of the team.
