WELLINGTON'S MILK
A SUPPLY FROM FEATHERSION TEMPORARY ARRANGEMENTS MADE The president of the Board of Trade (Hon. E. P. Led) made a statement in the Houso of Representatives, yesterday regarding the dispute between tho Wellington Slilk Committee and the Teather- ' ston farmers. He indicated that a tcmpOrary arrangement had been made for the supply of milk to the city from leathers ton.
Mr. Lee said that tho representatives of the Feathers ton Co-opefitive Dairy Company were at present.in Wellington. They had conferred with some of ;tho members ,of the City. Council on Wednesday regarding the case filed by the oouncil against the company in. the i Magistrate's Court, but had not lieeii ■able to Teach a Settlement. But that morning the parties had agreed to the ;following suggestions:— .. (1) That the charge against the company of. having offered milk for sale, at an unreasonable price should be adjourned until July 15. ■ . (2) That a meeting should be arranged between the City Council's Milk Committee, the Teatherston Co-operative Dairy Company,'and the BoaTd of Trade BbOuV July 7, to discuss the prico _of milk to be supplied to the cit.v during tho remaining, months of the winteh (3) Thni in order to put an end to .the present unsatisfactory state of affairs the City Council agree, pending tiie decision of the Board of Trade, to pay Is. Cd. per gallon at the factory folhe Fftatherskm Dairy Company. / TEe Minister added that the company; , had agreed to supply immediately to the city milk to the amount approximately of .980 gallons per day., The directors of Rio company fuul agreed to accept the Board o? Trade's decision lis to price. The question, would be discussed oh the return of the Board of Trade from Auckland. ; The arrangement made in the meantime was as satisfactory as could be expected. ... .'
