The Board of Trade advises that authority has recently been given to -Auckland and Waikato sawmillers and timber murchants to increaso the prices of timber bv amounts ranging from 2s. per 100 for o.b. classes to 3s. (id. per 100 for firstclass kauri. These prices, it is explained, are necessitated on account of the increase in wages recently awarded by the Court to sawmill workers in these districts. i However, increasing prices of timber are inevitable, owing to the great demnnd and the, shortage of suppli&s. lhis condition is one that investors can take advantage of,« for Tho Groat Western Timber Company, Ltd., is being formed to cut out 10,000 acres cf tho finest forest in Now Zealand.
