PENSION PAYMENTS
MEDICAL BOARD IN THE SOUTH. By Telegraph—Press Association. Timaru, Juno 29. The Medical Board since Saturday has dealt with 91 cases in the Timaru district. Twenty-six men were granted permanent pensions, and 15 final!' pensions, 50 were, renewed for varying periods, and 11? were deferred for «■ specialist's report. Mr. j. C. Faehe, Pensions Commissioner, who accompanies the Medical ; Board, gave a reporter some figures hitherto unpu'blished. He said that up to March 30 last the following pensions, were granted23,lit temporary, 2130 permanent to soldiers, 1517 to dopendalits, 2075 to settlers' widows, 5705 to parents or other dependants. The annual liability is .£1,869,300. Of civil. pensions, there are 19,993 eld age, MM widows, 939 epidemic widows, 415 minera' widows, 939 Maori War pensioner's, in all 60,301 perilous, representing ,£2,930,968 a year. There was alsj paid .£60,000 in the Old Country and .£25,900 in Australia as'war pensions.
