LYCETT DEFEATED BY TILDEN. London, June 28. In tho men's singles at the Wimbledon tennis tournament. Tilden. defeated Lycett 7-5, 4-G, 6-4, 7-0.-Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. MAVRdGORDATO BEATS WILLIAMS. (Reo. June 2D, 10 p.m.) London, June 28. Lycett put, up a "rent fight against ■Tilden, his forehand drives defeating Tildeu whenever near the net. A great part of the match was. fought out on the back lines. ■ Tilden's cross-court volteys and back-hand play finally won him the match. Mavrogonkto, playing with , great steadiness, defeated Williams (America), 6—3, 4—G, 9—7, 7—5. Shimidzu defeated WiClford, 6—o, 6—o, 6-2. , Tilden and garland (America) Shimidzu (Japan), and Mavrogordato (England) will contest the semi-finnl. In the doubles, Doust and Prebble defeated Watt and Beamish, 6—l, 6—3, 6—4. Johnston and Tilden defented Raymond and Wins Cow; 6—2, 6-4, 6—2.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
