The Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) is at present indisposed, owing to a slight accident which caused him to sprain his ankle. His Honour hopes to bo well again in time to preside at a sitting oi the Court of Appeal on Friday.

Owing to the unsatisactory state of his health, Mr. A. W. Hogg has tendered his resignation as a member ot tuo Wellington Education Board. Mr. Hogg has cccupied a seat on the board for, nearly thirty years, and has rendered valuatf.o service to the district. 1 he resignation will necessitate a by-election. Tho Technical Education Board at ita meeting last evening passed a motion of condolence with Mr T. Forsyth in respect to tho death of his father, which took place last week. Mr J.H. Howell, Director of .the Technical" College, has been appointed to sneceed the late Mr. G. Hogben on the Council of Education.

The Hon. B. Harris and Mrs. Harris arrived by. 'the express yesterday.

Mr William Kerr, of Capo Town, la touring New Zealand. He is to leave by the Tahiti next,month for America. 3TiH W. Grimes (Sgt, 2/3001), who was formerly with the Ann of Messrs. Charles Bogg in New Zealand took us discharge in England in order, to gam further experience in the pianoforte trade. At the present time he is in "Wales as tho representative of a large pianoforte firm.
