Tho miners' ddegntes attending tho Labour Conference, after having considered the Government's statistics, explaining the increase of 14s. per ton in the retail price of coal, challenge the accuracy of tho figures. They declared that the increase was unjustifiable, and decided to recommend the impending Minors' Conference to demand a big sliare of tho increase. Probably the demand wil lbe far an increase in «ages of ss. a week.—Renter. NEW SOUTH WALES MINERS' DEMANDS CONFERENCE FAILS TO BEACH AGREEMENT. Sydney, June 24. A conference of coa'.-owners bud miners discussed tho men's claim for payment of a pound a day for the lower-paid men, and for shorter working hours. The flwnora submitted counter-proposals. No agreement was reached, and, on the si ggestion of Mr. W. M. Hughes, who presided, tihe conference adjourned with the object of the two parties trying to rtach a tnodus vivendi.—Press Assn.
