RAILWAYMEN'S PAY
TERMS OP NEW AGREEMENT. ' -'• By Teleirranh—Press Association . Chrlstchurch, June 23. Mr. Elliott, president of the Lyttedton branch of tho Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, addressed two meetings of railwaymen. at Lyttelton tonight on the new agreement made between the Government and the A.SJJ.S. and the E.P.C.A. The chief item of t'he agreement is that the Stringer awajri of one.shilling per day bonus drasieen increased to' three.shillings per day as from April 1. last. , This means that the lowest rate £f pay for any member of these railway branohes will be 15s. per day. Shunters are also to reoelvo a small increase in their regular pay. Double rates are to be paid on Sundays, Christmas Day, Good' Friday,, King's Birthday, and Labour Day, with a minimum of four hours to bo paid for. In regard to annual freo passes all restrictions as to their usa .on holidays have been removed, and the railwaymen can now: use posses by any passenger train. No resolutions were passed at either of the meetings.
