BURNSIDE STOCK SALE

By Telegraph-Press Association Dunedin, Juno 16. Each department was well supplied with stock at Burnside to-day with the exception of pigs, a large number , of. which should have been disposed of. Freezing representatives were active arid prices in consequence were, on tha whole, above rate quotations. ' Fat cattle—A large yarding, a total of 204' being offered for sale. The quality waß medium. The sale opened under good competition nnd prices were fully 10s, a head above last, weeks rates. Prime bullocks sold at £22 to £25 103.,-medium '.£lB to .£2l 10b., light and unfinished kinds from £\t 10s. upwards. Prime heifers sold from J'ls IM. to £18 10s., medium .£l3 10s. to .£ls, light and aged .£9 upwards. Store catlle-A large yarding. The demand was slack, more, particularly for voung and backward-conditioned cattle. Prices on the whole were a few shillings a head be?.ow late rates. ■ . _. ' Sheep—A good yardiiip. numbering 2371 head of fair'quality. The" demand was good by both trade nnd export buyers, and values were fully Is. Gd. a head above last week's rates. 'Extra prime heavyweight wethers made up. to 575. ('<!., prime 445. to 545. 6d., medium 3Gs. to 425., light and unfinished, kinds from Sfls. upwards. Extra prime ■heavy-weight ewes made up to 565. 9d„.prime 40s. to 48s. 9dv medium 325. Gd. to-388. Cd., light and aged from 2os, upwards. Fat lambs—A moderate yarding, numbering ,1474 head of fair quality. For nil good sorts auitablo for expert purposes competition was keen, nnd prices were from 2s.- to 3s. a head above Late rates. C4raiiers were also in the market for 6tore lines which required finishing oft. Best lambs made.up to 385., und otliere from 18s. upwards. Pigs—A medium yarding, a.l meeting with ready sale at; prices well up to last week's rates. Baconers realised from IOJd. to UJd. per lb., and tat porkers from lid. > Hid. per lb.
