CHRISTIAN ENDEAVOUR
# CONVENTION OPENED. The convention of t>o Wellington Christian Endeavour Union was opened last ovening with a "juniors'-night." Tea was.served in the Taranaki Street M&hodist Schoolroom to about 550 young folk. The catering arrangements wcro in the hands of a committee of ladies, under Miaa A Andrews, of the Hataitai Methodists.
Later in the evening a meeting was held. It waß presided over by Mr. b. J. Brabin, and there was a large attendance. The president (the Rev. Dr. Penfold) was unable to attend owing to illhealth.
The chairman briefly addressed the assemblage, urging the children ntit to talk of what they were going to do for their Endeavour, but to do it.
Mr. H. P. Leiig aleo addressed the chil-, dren, and during the evening solob, recitations, and choruses were rendered by tho vnrioua district unions
To-morrow, tho consecration meeting will be held, and an address will be delivered by tlie Rev. S. Beckinghara.
Mr. Baker w'aa tho musical conductor and the Rev. Mr. Reid presided. A competition Bhield for those securing the greatest number of new members was won by the Wellington Union.
