RESULTS OP THE OPENING . EVENTS. Few people in New Zealand are aware that the opening evcntß of this year's Olympic Gaines have already been won and lost, the skating races and the ico liockey tournament being settled between April 20 and April 30. American papers contain a few of tlio results, which show that Sweden is leading, with Norway second, and Canada, America and Finland., third equal. In the hockey tournament Canada, represented ly tlio famous Falcons, of "Winnipeg, won from tho Americans,.with- Czechoslovakia third. The .tournament was contested by America, Canada, France, Sweden, Belgium, Czecho-Slovakia and Switzerland, and Antwerp sportsmen made Canada and Czecho-Slovakia tho favourites Iwfore tho opening game. Canada defeated America by 2—o. and America' defeated Czecho-Slovakia by Hi—o. Tho matches Were played at tho Antwern Ice> Palace, and King Albert waicliecl several of the games. Tho winning team, consisting of Byron (goal), Benson ami Johannson (defence), Wooel•man (rover), Halferson, Fredrickson and Goodman (forwards), received the diploma, and a silver-gilt Olympic modal went to each member of the team. Tho second prize was a silver Olympic medal to eanli .member of tho second team, and; the third prize a bronze medal for eacli member. In tho skating, tho only result, mentioned w«9 that of 'the figure skating, which was won by Hiss Tulin (Sweden!), with Miss Norrin (Sweden) second, anil Miss Thereso Weld (America) third. .The prize .for. tins event was a silver-gilt Olvmpio medal and bronzo slatuetle. T)io next events to bo settled will bo the yachting races, which will tako place between July 7 and 10. AFTER THE DANCE-A SEVERE CHILL. Cases of this sort are frequent. "Prevention is better . . .
