Man had misdirected the forces ho controlled • Mr. Wiren, oppoßinp tho motion; ■contended that there was no superior evolution in either man or woman— they were equal. '* 'No proof, could be . adduced _ that in any respect woman was on' . & higher plane of evolution tlia-n man. or that eho looked to the future rather than tto> present. Every attempt to show any difference between man and woman resulted in unwarranted eemeralisat-iono. Mr. Martin Smith, seconding the oppoßer, admitted that there were in tho world women of groat capabilities, but it waß unfair he contended to base any orgument on these brilliant exceptions. Woman had no sense of high duty. _ and although in somo respects eho assisted man's development in many she hindered A number of students took part in a, discussion. On a show of hands tho motion was declared lost. The judge (Mr. P. Broad. M.A.. 1,L.8.) nlaced i tho speakern in. the following order:—Misp Norman. Mr. Wiren, Mr. Davidson, Mr. Pone, and Mr. Kirk.
