ASPHYXIATED ON THE KAURI
—♦ CHIEF' STEWARD AND WATCHMAN FOUND DEAD. (Rec. Juno 7, 8 p.m.) Molbourne, Juno 7. Upon arrival from New Zealand of the Union Company's steamer Kauri, she was fumigated. Subsequently Carter, tho chief steward, and Nixon, watchman, were found fatally asphyxiated in tho engineers' cabin. .They apparently had closed the door owing to the cold before the fumea had escaped,—Press Assn.
