SHEEP-DOG TRIALS
By Telegraph—Special Correspondent, Wanjanui, June 3. The North Island Sheep Dog Trial Association is holding its annual championship meeting nt Waverley. Competitors are present from nil pnrls of the North Island, whilst Gauterbur.v is also well represented. The Long Head has been decided, the event being won by H. Little, of Woodgrove, Canterbury, whoso dog Jack added another to the long list of successes he ha,* scored on the sheep dog trial fields of the Dominion. This is the third time i lint Jack has won the Long Head and the handsome silver cup donated by the associated auctioneers therefore becomes the absolute property of tho Woodgrovc competitor. That veteran ■ competitor J. R. Corrigan ran the winner very close with Darkie. _ who was. only 1J points behind. Darkie lost half a point in pulling and a point in holding, but otherwise his points were identical with those scored by Jack, fho winner. G. Sutherland (Porangahau) came third with Scalp, and 15. Johnson (Kiord) fourth with Hemp: '.All tho placed dogs worked splendidly, as will be judged from tho fact that the fifth dog was only four points behind tho winner.
