Visitors to the Otaki meeting to-day will have their choice of three special trains from 'l'horndon Station, but they should note that excursion fariis will not be Issued by the mail trains, which do not stop at Otaki. Splendid acceptances have been received for the different ovenls on the card, and as the going will bo good, there is every reason to anticipate a record attendance and high-class racing. Quality Is not a strong feature of' the Maiden field, and this being ijic case the public may pluijip for Prodigal, who is more seasoned than any of the otherfl, and ha 6 run several good races of late. Generalissimo, who one of K. Barlow's Now Plymouth team, may have moEt admirers in the Hying llack Handicap, in which he will carry 9st. Others which will, bo well backcd arc Itoyal Exchange, Bst„ and Vitella, 7st. 111b. They are an even lot in the Taihoa, Steeplechase, but good safe conveyances like Pawerewere, Master Webster, and Parawanui will have an advantage over the' others, many of whom aro. racing l over brush fcnces for the first time. . Bonnie Heather may be favourite in the Raukawa Oup, in which he wi'l bo ridden by li. Ee&d, but lted Ribbon and Punka will also have plenty of admirers. Bonnio Heather showed up well at Hastings, and 6hould strip a better horse today; A likoiy pair amongst the bottom weights are Detroit and Hose Pink. In tho past the last named has always meed well on this course. Tame Pox will not be a runner in th# Otaki Handicap, one mile, having been scratched before the weights appeared, Thiß event looks very open, and Simon, Kllgour, Utuwai, Flight Commander, and Printompa can all go the distance well. Kilgour, who likes the sting out of the ground, may be tile machine favourite. Daytime may be the final favourite in the Taipua Handicap, but Eawakore, who always racca well when the going is. c n the soft side, Matatna and Ahika, will all have plenty of followers.

There ia a good-sized field in the Birthday Welter Handicap. Admiration and Achilleon, both of whom hail from Awapuni, will be prominent in t.he market, and should shape satisfactorily. AT ELLERSLIE. , Lochella has frightened a, lot of the others In tho Great Northern Hurdles. He is tho correct choice on Wanganui form, and the distance will suit him, as he 1b a splendid Etayer. ■ Cynic way run on tho best of the others. In the TPirßt Division of the Jervois Handicap, whlflji is to be run at 11 a.m., the Stead-owned Lady Ball and No Bother' may be tho best of what scorns to be a weak field,. while in the Second Division Ohiti, a place-getter on both days at Hastings, should command plenty of sup-, port;

Yankee Jack, Hat. 31b., is a better class than the others in the Maiden Steeplechase, and lie will have plenty of followers, while in the Cornwall Handicap Dublie support may be divided between Parisian Diamond- and Cashmere.
