Ho has been connected with tho Avro works at Southampton for some time, and lias never abandoned Lis intention to attempt- an Australian flight He has now started as a sporting venture, hoping to be tho first man to reach Australia in a single-seater aeroplane. A ba'by Arvo won the sealed handicap in thv Aerial Derby. It has a rango of 200 miles, and flies at from 70 to 80 miles an hour, using a Green ongino of 35 horse-power.

It is a most daring proposition to attempt to cross large stretches of water in such a 'bus, link Hinckler is a bit of a sport, and believes he will reach Australia eventually.
