MOVEMENT TO SPREAD PROPA- . GANDA.
. An Important suggestion was made at yesterday's meeting or the Wellington, branch executive of the Navy Mrs. C. Earle, who announced that the time had come when an effort should be made to appoint a secretary nndorRanker, who would devote the whole of his time to propaganda work ™ connection with the Navy League, Particular y among the school children. Ho thought that if the matter was put before people in the proper light, support would be forthcoming ot its own accord He had little doubt that it would be a financial success, as hundreds of people would join the Navy League if the proposition were only put before them in the right way. The chairman said that they could not do batter than endeavour to siccure the services of Mr. R. Darroch, and suggested that the wav to do it would be to approach the Education Board to give him leave without nav. It would probably mean an expenditure of .SlOflO a vear. The scheme could -be given a trial for one year. He thought it would be an excellent way of fostering tho spirit of loyalty in the children, and people knowing that would, ho contended be inclined to support tho proposal financially. It would, he took it. be one man's work to nttend to the Wellington (educational) district. . The proposal was enthusiastically favoured by tho meeting, and it was finally decided, as a start, to affirm the principle of appointing a naid secretary and organiser, and that the matter bo referred to the Finance Committee to report as to ways and means. .
