ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY
ANNUAL MEETING. The animal meeting of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society was held in tho Chamber of Commerce Hall last night. Mr. L. 0. H. Tripp, president of tho society, was in tho chair, and about twenty members were present.
The chairjnniL in presenting the annual report, said that the revenue of the society had been very satisfactory. Inoreases had been fairly general, and the accumulated funds stood now st .£2035. Efforts to secure a substantial number of pheasants had not been successful. The Auckland society had suggested co-operation in tho raising of pheasants in n' northern hatchery, and the matter was being considered. Tho gamo farm at Paraparaumu was now in need of a competent curator. Tho fishing in the Hutt River had been particularly good, and the society should continue to give special attention to this popular'river. ,Mr. Tripp complimented tho officers of the society on their excellent work.
Mr. J. F. Dyer stated that he had mot officers of the Auckland society who were preparing to rear pheasants on a large scale, and wished Wellington to co-opernte.
The following officers were elected:— Patron, the Governor-General; vicepresidents, Messrs. W. 11. Bectham. A. J. Rutherford, L. G. Reid, E. Riddiford. and A. F. Lowe; members of council, Mowes. L. 0. IT. Tripp, F. Whitlov. E. J. C. Wifl'en, L. Powell, and A. Seed.
Messrs. G. Cooper, D. Riddiford, and S. G. Nathan were elected life members.
