The Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives rejected by 10 votes to 9 a resolution endorsing Irish independence.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. IRISH PILGRIMS RECEIVED BY POPE. Rome, May 27. The Pope, attended by Cardinal 'Logue, received four hundred Irish pilgrims. The Pope said that the beatification of Oliver Pliinket occurred at a time when Ireland rnqre than ever needed the help of heaven to attain what legitimately ■belonged to her—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
