EXHUMING SOLDIER'S BODY
ALLEGED OBSTRUCTION BY GRAVES SECTION. (Rec. May 27, 9.5 p.m.) London, May 26. Australia Houso is investigating a complaint arising out of alleged obstruction by officers oflne Graves Section, in order to prevent a relative from Australia from attending the exhumation of the body of a 6oldier who died in captivity. It is understood that the. Australian authorities accepted a German report regarding the grave, but the relative made inquiries during a visit to France, and became suspicious that tho roport was' inaccurate. He applied for leave to attend Wnen, in accordance with practice, the body was exhumed preparatory to burial in an Australian cemetery. The relative complains that obstacles were placed in bis w«o>, but finally by British intflvvention he saw the grave opened. It then transpired that _ tho grave contained tho bodies of six British soldiers, but no Australian. Tho mistake obviously was duo to faulty German records—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
