Joseph Hoffe's beautiful comedy-drama, "Tho Little Damozel," is to be playod by the J. and N. Tait Company at the Grand Opera House. -' commencing on Thursday. "'The Little Damozel," which must not he confused with "The Blessed; Damozel," tells the love story of Julia Alardy, the harpist ; n a swell cafe orchestra, where she is adored by everyone for lier natural sweetness and goodness. Whilst attending to her duties she is wooed oiid ivoa by Captain Neil Partington, a wealthy officer, but th!e latter tires of-the girl, and in order to y get free of heir offers Reeky Poole, an ingratiating young'ne'er do-well, the sum of .£15,000 to "marry the girl. Poole, ; young and attractive, succeeds, and the ' marriage turns out quite happily, until JSrafigton's finacee (Sybil Craven) learns that Julie's husband is her former fiance. Poole is naturally furious to think tliat he has beea -bribed into a marriage by his successor in Sybil's affections. Sybil, too, is disjisted and breaks oft her engagement with Parting- ' ton, and Julie is broken-hearted at the collapse of her littlq world of happiness. Separation 'brings it home to Poole how much .lie really loves Julie, and/ so wrought is he at the separation that he is about to take his own life, when Julie forgives, and the fall of, the curtain elves promise of the resumption of hlappy day*. The play gives fine opportunity for some splendid acting by Miss Ernita Lascelles as Julie, and Mr. Herbert Eanson as Poole. The cast is.a strong one, and the play is produced rigiit up to the Tait standard. The box plans are at the Bristol, while day sales are to be obtained at Ned Perry's, Manners Street.
