THE NEW AGREEMENT. Tlio now tramway agreement respecb incr wagCvS, which is to mulct th& city in a very Large sum of money, has now been current a fortnight, though ao announcement of tho particulars has bom made officially. Hitherto the men of tho tramways staff have worked nine hours before overtime was counted, now overtime counts after eight hours work. It is to 1» paid for at tho Tate of time Nind a, half up till midnight, and after that hour dcuble time. All Sundays and. holidays (enumerated 1 ) are to 1 lie paid to- ;it double rates. ■ , Onlv one point is left in dispute. The City 'Council wish the agreement registered under the Conciliation and Arbitration Act, but the Tramways Employees' Union wish it to be registered under the Labour Disputes Committee. It is understood that flic new scale of wages and fresh conditions approved —now being worked under by the tramway men—will come up for ratification at this evening's meeting of the City Council.
