kOPES OF REFLOATING ENTERTAINED. By Telegraph— Bpeoial Correspondent. ■ Marton, May 24. Tho stranding of'the small steamer Aorero on ltangitikei beach during last night caused a good deal of excitement, locally, but relief was felt when it became known that the crew got safely ashore. It appears that last night the vessel encountered very heavy seas, and began- to leak badly, it beingi impossible' to keep up steam. An attempt was then mado to sail tho vessel, but this proved to l)o a failure, and she was blown on to the beach. Latest information is that tho Aorere is in a good position on tho beacfh, and hopes are entertained that she can bo floated off. Captain J. Crotty was in command at the time of the mishap. [The Aorere is a vessel of 76 tons, and is 82 feet long and 14 feet wide. She is well known in Wellington, having traded for a considerable period between iiere and Patea. She was later purchased by flhe Eastbourne Borough Council and used as a freight carrier between the city and that suburb. In November last she was sold by tho Borough Council to Messrs. Hatrick and Co., and used in connection with the operations of the Steel Pipe Company at Wlinganui. The vessel is about 30 years old.l
