NON-FERROUS METALS

REASONS DECLINE IN BBTOES. (Rec. May 23, 5.5 p.m.!) London, May 21. A circular issued by tho British Metal Corporation attributes the declino in tho price of non-ferrous metals since February to over-speculation, and the fear of a levy on war wealth and the restriction of bank credits. The posi : tiou as regards speculation (states the circular) is now sounder and the attitudo of. tho banks has been misunderstood, because the banks wish to check unsound ventures, but the fear of a levy is widespread and genuino and may produce a great financial crisis. Tho sooner Parliament decides upon tho course to bo adopted the better.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
