MASTERTON COMPETITIONS

The Masterton Competitions' Society's annual festival was continued to-day, when the hearing of the musical and'elocutionary sections was concluded. Tomorrow will be devoted to national dancing. Following are tho results of to-day's competitions •— Piano Solo, under U years, Beethoven's Sonata in G—Florence M'Kain, Masterton, 1; Albert J. Long, Petone, 2. Sacred' Soprano Solo, "The Lord is My Light" (Alhtsen)—Miss Mary Robinson, Masterton, 1. Memorised Song, accompanied by singer— J. Percival Dodds, Dannevirke, ]; E. M. Jones, Kuripuni Street, 2. Reading at sight, under 1G years—' Douglas' Edwards, Masterton, 1; J3va Archer, Masterton, 2. Reading at sight, lady or gentleman— C. Gordon Kirk, Wellington, X; Evelyn R. Aitchison, Wellington, 2. Action song, children under 12—Francis Clisby, Wellington, 1. Duet, two gentlemen, test piece, "Friendship" (Maxzials)—F. E. Gooder and H. F. Green, Masterton, 1. Contralto song—Miss E. M. Jones, Masterton, 80 points. The only award. Shakespearean recitation, test piece from "Hamlet"—o. Gordon ICirk, Wellington, 97 points, 1; F. Humphreys, Dunedin, 91 points, 2; C. G.
