EDUCATION BOAED'S DECISIONS. The Education Board held its monthly meeting yesterday. Tho chairman IMr. T. Forsyth) presided. The Education Department notiflod that a grant of £149 had been anproved for improvements, to the Waterfalls School. In view of the receipt of an intimation from Mr. E. 8. Knight, contractor for the construction of the board's desks, that the price for new desks constructed wholly of nniu would average £2 Bs. lOd the executive recommended that the cost of production and the question of suitability of tho present model bo considered by tho b6ard, and that tenders be invited for the construction of desks of the typo to be' agreed upon.-The recommendation was adopted. i- Modified plans of the proposed new • school building at Castlepoint wcro approved. *- 11 w ? s „ del >ided to purchase Town Acre J,o. 245, from, the .Featherston Methodist Trust, thus giving the board an area of two acres, at Featherston on which to erect the proposed new school. It was resolved that the senior inspector s recommendation in favour of the establishment of Horocka and Vukehinau as part-time schools, be submitted to the school committees concerned, with a quest for a sympathetic consideration of the. proposal.
