BROOKLYN NOVICE RACE. Tho Brooklyn Olub held their novlco race of two miles and a, halt at Miranmr on Saturday, under- ideal conditions. Fifteen runners faced the starter. T.m limit men making the best of their handicap, set a solid pace, ilnrchmant nnrf Billing were in tho front at the end oi a mile, with the scratch lnen comfnir through fast. ~ At the Gas Works Billing went to the front, and maintained this position till the straight was reached, •when Mitchell came with a determined challenge. Billing, 35sec, 3. Time, 14min. 45scc. After the raco members and supporters sat down to an enjoyable afternoon lea.
