YOUNG MAN WOUNDED

A returned soldier named Cressvell, believed to belong to Timaru, was conversing with C. E. Mackay, solicitor, in the latter's .office this afternoon. Subsequently a chair hurtled through the wir.dow and revolver shots were heard. presswell'; was taken to the hospital wit.i a bullet in his right lung. Mackay was brought before justices later in the afternoon, and charged with attempted murder and remanded till Monday. Accused being Mayor of the town, tlio incident lias naturally caused a sensation x Inquiry made from Wanganui last evening elicited the information, that Oresswell was making very satisfactory progress.
