RETAINING THE PARK. A meeting of the executive of the Wellington Football Association was held last night. Mr. W. Aulil presided. The Brooklyn United Club wrote in reference to an application from the Thistle Club with regard to the transfer of a player. As the application did not conform with the rules no action was taken. The referee's renort was received in reference to a protest made by the Institute Oliib against a goal being allowed \to South Wellington in a third grade match on Mav 1. On hearing the explanation of the referee the Droteat was dismissed. A vote 1 of thanks was passed to the Porirua Mental Hospital authorities for the manner in which they had entertained the team from H.M.S. Renown. The chairman nicntioflcd that Ohief-Pctty Offlccr Bacon had thanked him for the excellent treatment the team from the warBliin had received during their Stay in Wellington. • With regard to the Association _ Park grounds, Mr. ,T. Wells said that it cost £60 per annum out of the capital for the upkeep of the ground. Ho stated, that the company thought it was time' the players , and supporters of the game should come forward with a scheme to retain the ground. It would have been possible fo.r the directors to sell the ground at a profit, but they did not desire this. The Wellington Football Association had (undertaken to find £90 in ordor to retain the eround for this year. This was only postponing the situation, as the liability on" tho ground was £1000. If sufficient shares were sold during the next few years the position might'be overcome. Tiie chairman said that the loss of the park would be a serious thing to Association football, as 84 clubs had entered for the various competitions. Several suggestions were made to raise funds to retain tho park, such as holding dances, socials, etc. The Kilbirnie representative suggested that shares should he distributed amongst the olubs. This would work out at about four shares per player. . It was .resolved that 30 or 40 shares should bo apportioned to each club for ! them to endeavour to get l'id of.
