INFECTIOUS DISEASES
FIGURES FOR PAST WEEK INFLUENZA CONTINU.ES TO DECLINE During the week ended noon yesterday, 827 cases of infectious disease were reported in the Wellington public health district, an increase of four compared with the figures for the previous week. The number of cases of influenza notified was 278, whereas in the previous „ week 281 cases wore brought under tho police of the Health Department.- Dur. ing tho past fortnight the number of influenza oases has continued to decline. Of the influenza cases, 3 wero • pneumonic 6 were.severe, and 261 were mild. ??hero wag 1 pneumonic case in Wellingon city, 1 in Petonc, and 1 in' Marton. ' In Wellington city there were 87 mild cases of influenza. Ten cases of chicken-pox were reported throughout the district, 3 being from Taranaki, 4 from Wanganui, 2 from Palmerston North, and 1 from the Waitarapa hospital district.
