IMMIGRANTS COMING
FIGURES FOR THIS YEAR. A.return furnished by the Immigration Department to the Prime Minister shows that for the first four months of the prest/nt year 1851 immigrants arrived in New Zealand.« This number does not, of course, include returning 6oldiers and war • workers. For the present month the number of immigrants will probably be 1000. Mr. Massey said that most of these were "nominated" by friends or relatives in this country, and such immigrants were of no concern to the Government, as they all had friends to go to for advice as soon as they arrived. Of the immigrants who have arrived, HI of the men have come out under the Imperial Government's scheme for assisted passages to ex-service men. There are still a very large number of New Zealand war workers, those members of the New Zealand colony in England who did eo much for the soldiers during tho war, remaining in England, and desiring to. como out to New Zealand when opportunity offers.
