RUGBY AFFAIRS

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEET. Tho Management Committee of the Wellington Eugby Union met on Tuesday. Mr. W. P. Hornig -presided. The names of Messrs. A. Neilson, A. Kitto, E. Tregear, and L. Simpson are to be submitted to the manager of the Services team for the selection of a referee for the match on Friday, llr. A. J. Griffiths was appointed manager of the Wellington team. Mr. W. Baumgart is manager of the Services team. Tho Itailway Battalion Club notified that, they wero withdrawing from the third grndo competition. The St. Patrick's College authorities wroto stating that it would bo impossible to travel this season, and asked for permission to play in town. ; The request was granted, Tho City Council wrote notifying that tho union had been granted the uso of twelve grounds for the ensuing season at S guineas per ground. The union's l solicitor notified regarding tho position of grounds on tho Petone lie creation Ground. He stated if the league played on the No. 2 ground the union could prosecute the Petone Council for a breach of contract. The meeting decided to draw two teams for Petone, and if any trouble should eventuate, the onus would be on the council. \ After considerable discussion it was decided that no .senior fixtures be played on Saturday, the maority of tho members being of tho opinion that it was too much to ask players to turn out two days in succession.

A sub-committee, consisting of the chairman, Messrs. Buck, Prendevillo, and Griffiths, was appointed to consider the matter of motor-car traffic, consequent on tho City Council's new regulations prohibiting the parking of cars in liintoul Street.

The action of t.ho chairman in purchasing 54 balls for school football was ipnroved.

Consoqlient upon a Selwyn player, who was injured in ,tho Petone-Selwyn senior game last Saturday, attending an outside medical man, it ivas decided to circularise clubß to. the effect that players injured must go to tho union's doctor for attention.
