GREAT STEEL COMBINE
CANADIAN COMPANIES AND BRITISH CORPORATION. (Rec. May 5, 11.10 p.m.) Ottawa, May 5. It is announced that nine Canadian steel companies and shipbuilding and transportation companies have been consolidated into the British Steel Corporation, with a capital of 500,000,000 dollars. Tho consolidation associates the iron and coal deposits of Canada' 9 Atlantic seaboard with the steel-making and financial with the steel-making, and financial resources of Britain. Tho capital stock will will be divided as follows: Fifty million 7 per cent, cumulat'ivo preferred shares, of which 37 million will be issued; one hundred million 8 per cent, cumulative preferred shares, of which 25 million will be issued; 150 mill'ion 7 per cent, noncumulative preferred shares, of which 87 million will be issued, and 200 million oommon shares, of which 77 million will be issued. —Aus.-N.Z.
